How to use PageSpeed Insights to make your site Mobile-Friendly?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that going mobile is the new norm these days.A mobile friendly is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. If you are working on making a site mobile friendly and haven't heard of PageSpeed Insights then you know nothing....Google has put together (and now updated) a great tool-Page Speed Insights- to help developers and webmasters make their pages mobile-friendly,with recommendations on mobile usability.

It is the goal of any webmaster to optimize their website so as to minimize its loading time.A fast loading page goes a long way in improving your website's user experience. But suppose you manage a very fast~1 second load time for your website. If that comes for the cost of usability, then its really not an improvement.

For example a user might need to scroll or zoom out quite in a bit in order to read the content on your site. The time wasted between the page loading, and up until the moment the user can start interacting with your website counts as much as the initial loading time.Well, this is where the PageSpeed Insights come in.

The pagespeed insights tool provides valuable information regarding your website, and how you can optimize it for better effect. It's new user-experience rules can help you find and fix the usability issues found on your website.

1. View Port :

Without a meta-viewport tag, modern mobile browsers will assume your page is not mobile friendly, and will fall back to a desktop viewport and possibly apply font-boosting,interfering with your intended page layout.Configuring the viewport to width=device-width should be your first step in mobilizing your site.

2. Font Sizes :

Use legible font sizes : if your users have to zoom in just to be able read your article text on their smartphone screen, then your site isn't mobile-friendly.PageSpeed Insights checks that your site's text is large enough for most users to read comfortably.

3. Scale Objects :

Size tap targets appropriately: Nothing's more frustrating than trying to tap a button or link on phone or tablet touch screen, and accidentally hitting the wrong one because your finger pad is much bigger than a laptop's mouse cursor.Make sure that your mobile site's touchscreen tap targets are large enough to press easily.

 4. Avoid third-party plugins :

Avoid plugins : Most smartphones don't support Flash or other browser plugins,so make sure that your mobile site doesn't rely on plugins.

You can read more about these rules in the Google Help Section or you can ask us anything about it in the comments section below. Also we cover more of these topics in detail so stay tuned with us........Happy blogging :)

Does your Domain Name have Importance in Ranking ? | SEO

It is generally the case that the more keyword-rich and exact-matching a domain is,the more valuable it is.Ordinarily, you could buy a domain at $10,but some domain sell for millions. That is obviously as far as their physical values go.But what about value in search ranking ?We know that the domain age plays a part in ranking, but is there any truth to the domain name itself contributing towards search engine performance ?

Some might argue that having a keyword-rich domain name make it more likelier to rank since it becomes more relevant to the topics thanks to the keyword(s).That is understandable, considering how optimizing page urls with keywords can help your SEO efforts.

But what about the big picture ? Does it help ranking if you have a popular keyword in the domain, regardless of content of the webpage ? Many people feel that once they've landed a killer domain, they've struck a gold mine, and that the content of their site has become less important than having the keyword in the domain.

So,watching for ,buying and using a domain name which corresponds to a phrase that gets high search volume should see you ranking higher on that phrase, you getting more clicks, increased traffic, revenue, etc.?

Wrong!

This might have been true a decade ago, when search engines had nothing but keywords to work on.Not today though. While optimizing Urls can help, ranking today is a result of so many signals other than keywords.Google itself claims that it make use of more than 200 signal to rank a website, and this use the heavy weights like the back-links profile, social interactions, and more.Do you think a factor as small as a single keyword in the domain name can be significant ?

Don't get me wrong though..

...Domain names do have their uses

The domain is a crucial factor when it comes to branding.Good domain names help the user-experience.They're easy to spell, pronounced and easy to remember. It doesn't however, necessarily have to be keyword-rich.What the heck is the "Google" ? the word is now present in most standard dictionaries, but 16 years ago,no one cared less about it.

To reach this point, however, there has to be something of value on the site.Something that makes people want to share the content of the site, recommend the site and revisit the site themselves. In other words, the CONTENT,coupled with relevancy and user-experience.It's perfectly acceptable to use words in domains in unique ways.

Bottom-line,the are no shortcuts to ranking. The domain 'technology.com' wouldn't give you any perks from outside or any higher ranking but the domain 'xyz.com' is easy to understand, pronounce, remembered and likely to rank high.

Now when you know their simple meaning than you'll have to understand some facts about them.So lets proceed further.

The Adsense CPC is the price of click which visitors do on your website when they visit your website,if they are interested, they click on relevant ads and in return Google pays you some $$ which might be between 0.01 to $20 per click.

The CTR is the percentage of the visitors who click on the ads being on your website.

You can increase your adsense CTR very easily by placing the ads on the right locations on your website, for example you can use Google Ads below post titles on single pages to boost your CTR,also you can add a big ad unit in the header and one in the footer to get more clicks on the ads. Also use different types of ads such as image and text ads, never use link ads because they do not get more clicks.Always use the sizes 300*250,768*90,468*60 and 300*600 because these sizes get more clicks and are recommended by Google itself.

For increasing CPC and RPM,you simply need to drive more visitors from USA,Canada and other developed countries.Advertisers pay more for visitors coming from these countries. So,choose a perfect topic for your website that boost your CPC and CTR.Here are some perfect topics.
