How to use PageSpeed Insights to make your site Mobile-Friendly?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that going mobile is the new norm these days.A mobile friendly is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. If you are working on making a site mobile friendly and haven't heard of PageSpeed Insights then you know nothing....Google has put together (and now updated) a great tool-Page Speed Insights- to help developers and webmasters make their pages mobile-friendly,with recommendations on mobile usability.

It is the goal of any webmaster to optimize their website so as to minimize its loading time.A fast loading page goes a long way in improving your website's user experience. But suppose you manage a very fast~1 second load time for your website. If that comes for the cost of usability, then its really not an improvement.

For example a user might need to scroll or zoom out quite in a bit in order to read the content on your site. The time wasted between the page loading, and up until the moment the user can start interacting with your website counts as much as the initial loading time.Well, this is where the PageSpeed Insights come in.

The pagespeed insights tool provides valuable information regarding your website, and how you can optimize it for better effect. It's new user-experience rules can help you find and fix the usability issues found on your website.

1. View Port :

Without a meta-viewport tag, modern mobile browsers will assume your page is not mobile friendly, and will fall back to a desktop viewport and possibly apply font-boosting,interfering with your intended page layout.Configuring the viewport to width=device-width should be your first step in mobilizing your site.

2. Font Sizes :

Use legible font sizes : if your users have to zoom in just to be able read your article text on their smartphone screen, then your site isn't mobile-friendly.PageSpeed Insights checks that your site's text is large enough for most users to read comfortably.

3. Scale Objects :

Size tap targets appropriately: Nothing's more frustrating than trying to tap a button or link on phone or tablet touch screen, and accidentally hitting the wrong one because your finger pad is much bigger than a laptop's mouse cursor.Make sure that your mobile site's touchscreen tap targets are large enough to press easily.

 4. Avoid third-party plugins :

Avoid plugins : Most smartphones don't support Flash or other browser plugins,so make sure that your mobile site doesn't rely on plugins.

You can read more about these rules in the Google Help Section or you can ask us anything about it in the comments section below. Also we cover more of these topics in detail so stay tuned with us........Happy blogging :)

Does your Domain Name have Importance in Ranking ? | SEO

It is generally the case that the more keyword-rich and exact-matching a domain is,the more valuable it is.Ordinarily, you could buy a domain at $10,but some domain sell for millions. That is obviously as far as their physical values go.But what about value in search ranking ?We know that the domain age plays a part in ranking, but is there any truth to the domain name itself contributing towards search engine performance ?

Some might argue that having a keyword-rich domain name make it more likelier to rank since it becomes more relevant to the topics thanks to the keyword(s).That is understandable, considering how optimizing page urls with keywords can help your SEO efforts.

But what about the big picture ? Does it help ranking if you have a popular keyword in the domain, regardless of content of the webpage ? Many people feel that once they've landed a killer domain, they've struck a gold mine, and that the content of their site has become less important than having the keyword in the domain.

So,watching for ,buying and using a domain name which corresponds to a phrase that gets high search volume should see you ranking higher on that phrase, you getting more clicks, increased traffic, revenue, etc.?

Wrong!

This might have been true a decade ago, when search engines had nothing but keywords to work on.Not today though. While optimizing Urls can help, ranking today is a result of so many signals other than keywords.Google itself claims that it make use of more than 200 signal to rank a website, and this use the heavy weights like the back-links profile, social interactions, and more.Do you think a factor as small as a single keyword in the domain name can be significant ?

Don't get me wrong though..

...Domain names do have their uses

The domain is a crucial factor when it comes to branding.Good domain names help the user-experience.They're easy to spell, pronounced and easy to remember. It doesn't however, necessarily have to be keyword-rich.What the heck is the "Google" ? the word is now present in most standard dictionaries, but 16 years ago,no one cared less about it.

To reach this point, however, there has to be something of value on the site.Something that makes people want to share the content of the site, recommend the site and revisit the site themselves. In other words, the CONTENT,coupled with relevancy and user-experience.It's perfectly acceptable to use words in domains in unique ways.

Bottom-line,the are no shortcuts to ranking. The domain 'technology.com' wouldn't give you any perks from outside or any higher ranking but the domain 'xyz.com' is easy to understand, pronounce, remembered and likely to rank high.

What is Adsense CPC,CTR and RPM ?

The CPC stands for Cost Per Click.

The CTR stands for Click through rate.

The RPM stands for Revenue Per thousand impressions.

Now when you know their simple meaning than you'll have to understand some facts about them.So lets proceed further.

The Adsense CPC is the price of click which visitors do on your website when they visit your website,if they are interested, they click on relevant ads and in return Google pays you some $$ which might be between 0.01 to $20 per click.

The CTR is the percentage of the visitors who click on the ads being on your website.

The RPM is the calculation of how much you earn from per 1000 impressions with Google Adsense.

How to increase Adsense CTR,CPC and RPM ?

You can increase your adsense CTR very easily by placing the ads on the right locations on your website, for example you can use Google Ads below post titles on single pages to boost your CTR,also you can add a big ad unit in the header and one in the footer to get more clicks on the ads. Also use different types of ads such as image and text ads, never use link ads because they do not get more clicks.Always use the sizes 300*250,768*90,468*60 and 300*600 because these sizes get more clicks and are recommended by Google itself.

For increasing CPC and RPM,you simply need to drive more visitors from USA,Canada and other developed countries.Advertisers pay more for visitors coming from these countries. So,choose a perfect topic for your website that boost your CPC and CTR.Here are some perfect topics.

Best 'Page Title' practices to boost traffic | SEO.

Understand why to concern more on Title

Your blog or webpage title is the most important description about your site, because title is the first thing the visitors look when they enter in your website.Your post title will act as a primary piece of information and a decision point for the visitors to decide that whether they click on your site or not.Giving appropriate titles (including keywords) will let the users to have a quick insight or page content.Users tries to go through a site that shows most related keywords relevant to their search query. At the end of this article I have given some tricks that are to utilized maximum keywords for better SEO.
So the title is the first impression for the bloggers as to enable him customize it in search results.Note that ; Google generates page titles and description automatically based on your site content as well as users search query (by taking some lines from your blog posts). But by giving short and detailed description about your site will make the search engines forcibly display your site details in the search results.Of course this has to be accompanied with snippets like search descriptions.
To get an idea of where actually the title tag appears, see the below picture and check the highlighted parts.
For blogger posts, the heading that we give while writing a post (like the one shown as highlighted in the below picture) will by default  be taken as the title in search result. However,Google may sometimes show different titles based on users search query.

Features and best Practices

1.Avoid repetitions :

Use unique titles and avoid duplicates.Duplicating will confuse the crawlers as well as users and may result in visitor quitting your page.

2.Use Keywords :

Do a quick research of your posts content in order to include some major keywords in the title,so as to allow users find them in search results. The best thing is to check for popular search queries in Keyword tracker tool available online(you may Google it) and check what type of queries were asked in that search area.Identify the common terms included in all search terms (that appeared repeatedly in most of the queries)and do include that kind of keyword in your page title.

3.Don't over stuff :

Google particularly recommends not to over stuff titles with keywords, crawlers consider this as spam.Best practice is to use not more than two keywords.Even using commas(,) in title is considered as keyword stuffing by the crawlers. So avoid putting commas and over stuffing.

4.Descriptive and Brief :

A title is always must be brief but descriptive and reasonably short allow the users quickly navigate to them.It even helps search engines to quickly show them in top search results. The more information you include, the better will be the search description, thus allowing the crawlers as well as users to quickly find your site.

5.Special Characters :

You may use pipes (|),but commas, underscores or any other punctuation are not appreciated.Placing pipes helps in shorting the title as well as improve the readability with good look.

6.Brand Name :

Google says that putting the brand name, helps the users identify the company and choose the page. Some users tend to visit just by seeing the company or brand even if they don't see related search queries or keywords. That's the power of branding. If you are a great and popular brand, then doing by this definitely. If you are a beginner like me and your brand is still in the process of popularizing, then better target for a legible title with proper usage of keywords and specially query terms.

Some Special and Effective terms to be included in the title

Title which begins with these special keywords are more attracted and more appreciable and attracts more visitors. Some are following :-

How to

Learn

What to

Best way

Importance of

Top reasons

Benefits of

Is/Are/Does

How to check your blog/website indexing status ?

If you are reading this,it means you have already submitted your sitemap to "Google Webmaster" and you want to check the status of your site indexing.Well don't get confused anymore;it is so simple and easy to check that whether your website or blog is submitted and indexed by the crawler of Google or not.

Open Google search page and type the following code

site : URL-of-your-website/blog-homepage

Say for example,if you have a blog with .blogspot.com domain then the code will look like

site : yourblogname.blogspot.com

By doing this you are requesting the Google search engine to display your website and all the pages/posts of your website that has been indexed by the Google crawlers. Then Google will display a list of your posts/pages.Note that you can see all the posts and pages that are shown below.
The interesting thing is that you can see the individual page or post search description/meta tags;and also analyze how they appear when somebody search the web. Therefore, analyzing the search descriptions by going through the search results will help you to choose an appropriate search description/keywords.
If however, nothing shows up in the search results, like shown below in the search results then it means that your website is not indexed by Google yet.You need to recheck the status of your sitemap as well as custom robots submission to Google Webmasters.
There is another way of checking your index status in webmaster.Login to your webmaster account and go to site dashboard > sitemap. There you can see the number of URL's submitted along with status of indexing shown below. But this does not give much information (like search descriptions, tags, number of pages as per search keywords).

SEO ?

Famously called as "Search Engine Optimization" is the process of enabling your website or blog in top search results of the search engines.Let me tell you that according to Google statics, those websites that appear in first 3 results of the seach engines enjoy 90-95 % clicks and page visits. So it is important to make our website in first 2 pages of search results. Also, page rank matters in page results. Those websites which have higher page ranks are said to be "Healthy Sites".

Easy Navigation And HTML User Sitemap :-

The common mistake that most of us do is that we do not have a proper navigation system in our webpage.Navigation in the sense, ease of access of posts and links.Remember XML sitemaps are only for search engine bots but HTML sitemaps are for user and bots both.

Interlinking :-

It is a very good practice to include some of your previous post inside your new article. I mean Interlinking. So, try interlinking your webpages and your posts.Links from other related webpages are also advantageous but better avoid including links of unrelated webpages.

Domain :-

The thing is I do not believe in domains. Many people say that if you have a .com , .net domain you will get higher preference. They might be correct but if you have a unique content then the domain have nothing to do with your page ranks.

Content :-

Content happened to be the most important concern as well as users. This giant web world is meant to deliver just  a unique content. So, it is important to have a unique content. Google also reduces the page ranks of those websites who copy the content from other webs.

Keywords :-

Having sufficient and related key words in your posts is one required factor for SEO. Whenever users type a search query in search bars the crawlers will search for the related search query. So, use keywords like "how to..." or "my.."

URL Structure :-

Keep your URL descriptive and avoid useless extensions.

Analytics And Webmaster :-

Well, using analytics and webmaster free tools are a great way of understanding your audience behavior as well as SEO tactics. The more to understand your blog's stat, the more you understand your blog's requirements.

No Broken Links :-

Broken links are an indication of the site's illness.Inspect and reach every page of your blog for any such links or if found, correct it.Broken links annoy users and SEO bots.A blog having broken links will not be crawled properly.

Title,Heading and Search Descriptions :-

Title is the first impression of your page and impresses both the users and the bots.A title should be related to the page's content ; with keywords in it.Also frame a good but brief description about your page, that might attract the visitors once they read it.

Submitting URLs to Social Media :-

Your site should firstly be visible to search engines and then only to users.Make Facebook pages and social things about your site and share your site's posts on them.
